Wish your muffin top would just disappear? Want a bigger bust line? What if you could have both—in one single procedure? The DeLorenzi Clinic is now offering the new BodyJet device, which allows a flatter tummy and an enhanced bustline in just one procedure!

The process entails removing fat from the belly area and putting it into the bust. In the past this technique was avoided, because when the fat healed in the breasts it created confusion, leading mammograms to be misread and unnecessary biopsies preformed. However, with new improvements in radiology this fear has abated, and the idea of fat grafting for breast augmentation is growing in popularity.

This method is showing great results, and patients are very pleased with the outcome. Fat grafting is also used for other breast surgeries, such as filling uneven spots around a breast implant, correcting irregular sizing, and repairing breasts after biopsies.

What you should know:
The procedure is yielding positive results from women who wish to lessen tummy fat and enhance their busts. At the DeLorenzi Clinic this is done is one single procedure thanks to new BodyJet technology. There is no pre-treatment required, and it can all be done under local anesthesia. The most volume that can be provided in a single session is about one cup size. Initially, there will be noticeable swelling and bruising, but this should resolve in about 2 weeks. As the swelling dissipates, the final results become apparent. In most cases, the results at 4 months are very long lasting. The breast changes throughout a woman’s life, and no surgery available anywhere can stop the natural changes that occur as a result of hormonal cycles and aging. There are risks associated with any surgical procedure, and you should see your surgeon to discuss these details. The initial results always shrink by about 50%. However, the procedure can be repeated in order to attain the volume you desire. Typically, repeat procedures are not done until at least 6 months has passed and the tissues have returned to normal.

    • Hi
I am not aware of anyone providing this service in Montreal. I held a training session at my clinic in Feb 2010, and there were no attendees from Quebec as I recall.

    • The cost of the bodyjet procedure will vary depending on the patient, you will need to come in for a consultation for an accurate quote. The procedure will last as long as you do not gain any weight; but be aware that the bodyjet is used for sculpting, not for weight loss. You need to be at your goal weight before the doctor will assess you for this procedure. As for waiting times, you will need to contact the clinic and set up a consultation with the doctor. A consultation is the first step in any surgical procedure.

  3. I have a consultation booked in March for a breast lift but then noticed the body jet which I am interested in finding out more about. What is the scarring like after the procedure and how long does it last? How much fat is required on the abdominal area in order for this procedure to work, I am fairly slim but do have some.

    • Thank you for your question about the BodyJet device and how it might be helpful in providing a solution for you. BodyJet is a machine that allows me to ‘harvest’ fatty tissue safely from one area of the body for use in other places on the same person. Fat can be taken from one or more different places where there may be excess fat available. This procedure is only for suitable candidates – it is not for everyone. The scarring from this procedure is minimal, similar to liposuction. The probes and tubes we use are about the size of a medium drinking straw, narrower than a standard pencil. The small incisions we use are less than about 1cm (less than half an inch) long.
Fat grafting alone can provide modest breast enhancement. Only about 250cc of harvested fat tissue, on average, can be safely used at any one time in each breast. About a third of the graft material is actually just fluid, and a small percentage of fat cells are older cells that will not grow, but are important to include because they act as ‘scaffolds’ for other cells. We find that about half of the initial volume injected will stay as permanent volume (on average). That means that the most you can expect is about a half cup size enhancement (or about 125cc per breast) with a single procedure. The results appear to be permanent. The procedure can be repeated for further enhancement after about one year. The advantages are that the enhanced breasts are all you, and no implants are used. The disadvantages are that only a modest amount of fat can be transferred (our average implant size is about 250 to 275 cc). Breast implants are far more efficient that fat grafting for breast enhancement but I find it very useful in selected patients. Obviously all of these statements are generalized, and we welcome you to come in for a consultation so that we can customize a treatment plan that will work for your problem.
